Greetings

My Name is Karli George.

It's a pleasure to meet you! Born and raised in Delaware, I've always had an appreciation for my home state and the boundless opportunities it has to offer. Case in point, the University of Delaware. I'm currently a fourth-year undergraduate student studying accounting and management information systems, with aspirations of building a career as a CPA, an IT systems analyst, or, better yet, a financial head working in the performing arts industry.

Professional Experiences

One of my core values is that the pursuit of knowledge extends outside of the classroom, especially when one is a budding professional. As such, I've dedicated myself to earning as much work experience as possible to create a well-rounded skill set.

I completed an assurance internship for BDO, LLP, the 5th-largest public accounting firm worldwide, and had the privilege of traveling to client sites with managers and speaking at the annual company town hall in Philadelphia. Like a sponge, I kept myself open to learning new practical skills such as Excel computing and auditing standards. Soft skills, such as presenting in a large group of seasoned professionals, were also acquired.

During the school year, I had the privilege to work for Nutter's Sandwich Shoppe, a small business that operated for over 70 years in the local Newark, DE area. While the store has unfortunately closed and its sandwich-making duties didn't overlap with my accounting education, it has provided the invaluable experience of working with a team towards a common goal: keeping customers happy. My work and cooperation paid off; the owner of Nutter's helped me get my most recent job as a a tax intern with Cornerstone, CPA!

Extracurriculars

Beyond the BHLP, school, and employment, I've kept my passion for the performing arts well-nourished. I'm heavily involved with theatrical performance and choral groups, having been a member of UD's Concert Choir and University Singer's ensembles. As of this year, I am currently a performer and the treasurer of UD's Riot Act Improv Troupe. This allows me to finally find a way to combine my degree with my passions.
